Burntisland Golf Club

Golf has been played on the foreshore at Burntisland since the late 1700s.

The Burntisland golf club moved up the hill to Dodhead in 1896.

Burntisland Golf Club – The annual general meeting of the Burntisland golf club was held on Thursday, when the following gentlemen were appointed office bearers for the year viz ;- P.R. Ramsay Esq. , Captain, Mr A.H. Reid, Secretary and Treasurer, Messrs William Stenhouse, James Farnie, James Hutchison, Council.

Harry Ward is a respected golf historian known for his detailed research into the origins and development of the game, particularly in Scotland. His work explores the early courses, players, and traditions that shaped modern golf, bringing to life the stories behind iconic venues and figures. Through careful study and a passion for the sport’s heritage, he helps preserve golf’s rich history for future generations.
