Dunvegan, Isle Of Sky.

Dunvegan Golf Club.  Instituted 1900.  A 9 hole course a quarter of a mile from Dunvegan pier.

"The south Uist golf club had as their guests on Friday 6th curt, a team of eight players from the Dunvegan Golf Club, with whom they played a match on the course at Askernish. The course had been specially prepared for the game, and never before in the history of the club did the greens and the course generally look so well. A most enjoyable game resulted, and a return match was arranged for at Dunvegan at an early date.  The scores :-

The Dunvegan Golfers

“A golf match took place at Portree on Saturday between teams representing the local and Dunvegan clubs.  The day was an ideal one for the game, and there was a good attendance of spectators.  The conditions were twice round the course of nine holes, and at the close the home club proved the victors by seven holes.” (HN 2.9.1905)

'The return match between Portree and the local club was played at Dunvegan on Saturday in delightful weather, and on this occasion the home team avenged their former defeat, and ran out winners by the large majority of 39 holes.  The course was splendid order, and the beauty and keenness of the greens were much admired by the stranger. The prospect from the higher reaches of the course is very fine, and the Cuillins in the distance were seen to great advantage.  The game, though rather one-sided, was most enjoyable, and the fixture is likely to become an annual one.  Scores:-
