Rhubaan golf course

This small six hole course was located at the Eastern end of Tighnabruaich where the boatyard is now. The course was obviously a private concern attatched to the large house adjacent to the course. When i found the photo's on the internet i immediately purchased them in order to continue my research. Having failed to find any text articles on the course from newspapers etc, i visited the site and carried out an extensive survey with the photo's.

This is how the photo's came to me. They are all pasted on to card and you can clearly see the descriptions on all of them, ie, rhubaan golf links, hill hole, road hole etc. It was an easy peasy survey as all the features in the background etc, all tied in nicely.

Harry Ward is a respected golf historian known for his detailed research into the origins and development of the game, particularly in Scotland. His work explores the early courses, players, and traditions that shaped modern golf, bringing to life the stories behind iconic venues and figures. Through careful study and a passion for the sport’s heritage, he helps preserve golf’s rich history for future generations.

All of this work is independently funded out of his own pocket. If you value preserving golf’s history and would like to support his ongoing research, any contribution—no matter how small—would be greatly appreciated.
